Sequences.
Revision of Year 7 work.
Formulae such as 3p2 and (3p)2
Equations with brackets.

Geometry I

Basic angle properties, Coordinates, Types of triangle, Angles on parallel lines, Symmetry of quadrilaterals, Angles in polygons, Geometric deduction.
Congruent triangles including use to prove isosceles triangle results etc.
Straight lines and triangles.
Sum of interior angles and exterior angles.

Proportion

Metric unit conversions, Unitary method, Imperial to metric conversions and vice-versa, Exchange rates, Problem solving, Map scales, Science problems.
Including metric units for area and 1 litre = 1000 cm3 = 1 m3.

Graphs I and II
Drawing and using conversion graphs, Graphs which aren’t single straight lines, Drawing and using distance-time graphs,
y = mx + c.
Distance, speed and time calculations.
Speed calculations from graphs.
Finding equations of lines and sketch graphs.

Algebra II

Multiplication and division of algebraic terms, Four rules of algebraic fractions, Simple factorising, More substitution, Equations with algebraic fractions, Problem solving using equations.
Examples such as (2a)2 x 5a
Factorising e.g. 24p2 + 60pq

Arithmetic II

Powers of 10, Standard index form,
Percentage Change.
Including calculating percentage increases/decreases and reversing percentage increases/decreases. Use of multiplying factor method.

The Circle

Circumference and area of a circle.

 

End of Second Term

Statistics and Probability
Mean, Probability, Bar charts, Drawing and using pie charts.
Multiplying probabilities in simple cases and listing outcomes.

Transformations

Reflections, Rotations, Translations along vectors, Combined transformations.
On coordinate axes.

Algebra III

Inequalities, Using formulae for speed and areas etc., Area calculations on coordinate axes.
Illustrating on number lines and solution of inequalities.
Area of parallelograms and trapezia.

Extension Work

Constructions including perpendicular bisector, angle constructions and angle bisector.

Pythagoras.

Time permiting.
