Year 12 spend three days down in Devon at Slapton Lee Field Study Centre in preparation for their Unit 3 Applied Skills examination. One of the days focuses on the movement of sediment along the impressive Slapton Sands.
New skills are put into practice, such as beach levelling to assess the changing profile of the shingle ridge.
A further study day involves a walk around the Prawle Peninsula, focusing particularly on sea level changes and the evidence for this.
The River Dart is the location for the third field day, where various stream characteristics are measured at sites along its course.
