For me, Community Action is about people and about realising that we have something to give to, and much to gain from, others who are different from ourselves. It is about making a difference, and about realising that, if we all make a difference in small ways, then the overall effect is significant.

I co-run the Community Action group alongside Mr Whitehead. So far, it has been a challenging, enjoyable and stimulating experience. I am very pleased with the High School members who greatly benefit from interacting with people of all ages and different social backgrounds.

Community Action provides a great opportunity to help people whilst having a good time.

I’ve been working for Community Action for 13 years. I’ve enjoyed setting up conservation activities with Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust and the Eco-Schools days we have here at School. The visit to Castleton in September is also great fun, especially the walk up Mam Tor.
Kiron Griffin, Year 10
I joined Community Action at the end of Year 9 in order to help people more deprived than me. That may be younger children, disabled children or old age pensioners. Community Action runs discos twice every term, which I helped out in, and danced to YMCA too
Daniel Sedgewick, Year 13
I joined Community Action because I had a real desire to help the community. It has also enhanced my leadership skills and I am now responsible for some organisational aspects of the group. I have particularly enjoyed my visits to Castleton with the St Anne Well's Junior School.
