The aim of our curriculum is to help boys become well-educated, well-rounded citizens.

We keep the study programme broadly based in the early years, leading on naturally to a wide range of GCSE and sixth form courses.  Careers advisers and tutors offer careful advice and outline any career and higher education implications whenever boys have to choose options.  There are inserts at the back of this prospectus giving full details of the programmes of study for each year group, along with details of the outstanding results obtained by our boys in public examinations.

Homework is an integral part of our programme, and provides scope for boys to learn the essential skills of active self-directed study.  From a base of about six hours per week in Year 7, boys undertake at least ten hours in their GCSE years, and considerably more in the sixth form.

We teach ICT skills in Year 7, which boys then use in all subjects as they work their way up through the School. Our ICT facilities are extensive, and we work hard to keep machines, networks and software fully up to date.  Internet access is widely available.

Our teaching departments organise a comprehensive programme of curriculum visits. Day visits include theatre productions, art galleries, discovery parks, geography and biology fieldwork, historical sites and religious centres.  Longer trips include language exchanges and classics and history tours.  All these trips are subsidised, and those directly related to the curriculum are included in our fees.
