Welcome to the Catering Department
The School's Catering has come under the spotlight of the Nottingham Evening Post's 'Healthy School Dinners Campaign'. In nominating the School for the Healthy Dinners Campaign the Post declared that 'Pupils at the Nottingham High School are queuing up to get their daily intake of fresh fruit, yoghurt and cereal bars'. We are very pleased with this recognition as we are fully committed to the provision of a healthy balanced diet, whilst also providing a choice of food. As the Post observed ' a visit to the canteen reveals a selection of food prepared on site ranging from lasagne or curry to salad bars, sandwiches and healthy pizzas'.
The School operates an in house catering facility which is managed by Mrs Jane Meehan. We are committed to providing good quality food at affordable prices and in so doing provide a wide variety in our menus to satisfy the tastes of all our pupils.
If any pupils have any special dietary requirements they should speak to Mrs Meehan who will try to accommodate those needs.
There are also a number of water fountains installed around the school for the pupils' convenience.
As a result of feedback over a period of time we have introduced a change to some of the vending offer in the Dining Hall and Sixth Form area this term. Out have gone fizzy drinks and confectionary that contain any of the five more aggressive 'E' factors which cause hyperactivity and in their place we have introduced chilled food vending machines containing freshly prepared sandwiches and rolls, yoghurt drinks, fruit, and salads.
