Nottingham High School has a wireless 802.11b/g campus-wide network. All full-time academic staff are supplied with a wireless laptop and part-time colleagues have access to one for report writing.  In addition there are wireless laptops for student use in the Library, DT and Science areas.  Use of the synchronisation facility allows staff to work offline as well as when connected to the network.

 

 

Wireless coverage is generally very good, however, there will inevitably be areas with weak signals and users need to try and avoid these, if possible.  It is important to realise that a wireless connection is no substitute for a ‘hardwired’ one, and the latter should be used wherever possible.
