The Valley Road Games Field is used by the Junior School every Monday and Friday afternoons for dedicated Games lessons. The site contains space for 5 full size football/rugby pitches, as well as additional training space and athletic areas such as triple/long jump pits and space for the throwing events.
Full time ground staff are employed to ensure that the field, pavilion and sports equipment are kept in excellent working order.
Throughout the year the boys will focus on the skills within football, rugby and cricket, building up to full game scenarios. There are also sessions developing skills within field hockey and a variety of different athletic disciplines.
The pavilion holds spacious changing rooms with hanging space and benching as well those all important showers to wash in after a hard afternoon's sport. There are also first aid facilities and a light and airy viewing room.
The boys are taken to the field by bus and have the option of returning to school using the buses provided or being picked up by parents/guardians from the Valley Road site by 3.40pm. If any boy is not picked up from the Valley Road site by 3.40pm, he will be taken back to School on the last bus for collection at School.
On the rare occasions where the games field has to be closed due to unsafe weather conditions the boys remain in School and are offered indoor sports and other activities.
