Welcome to the Friends of the Junior School’s web page!
Who are the Friends?
The
Friends are the parents of all boys attending Nottingham High Junior
School. All parents automatically become Friends when their son starts
at the school. There is no cost to joining the Friends, but many
benefits!

What do we do?
The
Friends is not a PTA! It exists purely to promote, organise and run
social events to foster the relationships between the school, the boys
and their families, and to raise funds through these activities to help
provide additional facilities for the boys.
As
well as organising their own events, the Friends also help out at
events organised by the school, such as Open Days, school plays, and
pantomime visits.
Friends
events are an integral part of school life, providing an opportunity
for parents, boys and staff to meet in a relaxed social environment.
Most
events are for the whole family, but occasionally we recognise that the
parents need a social life, too, and we organise a ‘kids-free’ event –
for example, in 2005, being the centenary year for the school, we
organised a Grand Centenary Ball at East Midlands Conference Centre in
June, and we ran a trip to the theatre to see ‘Titanic the
Musical’ in November.
Some
events are run every year, but others change according to opportunities
provided by the calendar and new ideas provided by Friends. We are
always grateful for new ideas and offers of help with these events, so
if you would like to get involved, please do get in touch.
If you would like to know more about the Friends and how you can get involved, please contact Paul Anderton on 07974 150853.
