Welcome to the Friends of the Junior Schools web page!
Who are the Friends?
The Friends are the parents of all boys attending Nottingham High Junior School. All parents automatically become Friends when their son starts at the school. There is no cost to join the Friends, but there are many benefits! All parents are welcome to participate in the running of the Friends Association and in helping it to develop its role in the life of the school.
Why have a Friends Association?
The main aim of theFriends Association is to bring parents, boys and staff together. Fund raising to enhance the boys' facilities is a by product of the work of the association, but it is by no means its primary function. By bringing parents, boys and staff together in a social setting, links and friendships are made that enhance everybody's experience of Junior School life.
How the Friends Association Operates The Friends meet roughly twice a term to organise and plan future events. The meetings are short, informal and productive giving everyone involved the opportunity to contribute to the success of the Friends Association. Active and enthusiastic support from the staff at each meeting mean that decisions and plans can be made and implemented quickly and efficiently. Before every meeting the agenda is available to every parent on this page and those unable to attend in person are encouraged to email their thoughts and ideas to the chair, Karen Tyler-Smith. In this way the Friends aim to involve and engage every parent, whether or not they are able to attend the physical meetings, in the running of the association which benefits the children and the school. Parents also benefit by meeting other parents and staff in a casual and sociable environment.
