Day 3 - Friday

Group 2 headed off to the coast to follow the same program Group 1 completed yesterday.  Group 1 went into the North Yorkshire Moors to find the River Derwent...

River Derwent

The day began with a minibus ride to a spot 3 km down from the source of the River Derwent.  We looked at three sites along the river and tracked the changes that took place.  We were to use the measurements such as depth, width, velocity etc. to compare each site.  The first site was fairly shallow and was fairly trouble free.  The second site however was a little deeper and some of us inadvertently went for a late March swim or decided our feet needed a little watering...  Others decided to follow in the footsteps of the hippopotamus and enjoy a nice mud bath in one of the many pathways we walked along today...

All in all a great day but we were pleased to get back to the centre and enjoy a nice shower and a change of socks...

Tomorrow is the big orienteering exercise before heading home...
