NHJS U11 v Grosvenor U11
On Monday 2nd October 2006 a minibus full of two teams A and B set off to Grosvenor’s playing fields: Valley Road. When we arrived they weren’t there and we began to get suspicious. Mr Jones rang their headmaster and he said that we were playing at our home ground, also Valley Road. So we got back in the bus and turned round to go back to our playing fields. When we finally started we got off to a great start, Charlie Kassell hit the post and then his follow up shot got saved. About a minute later Ben Rose scored an excellent volley after Sebastian Harwood’s cross. We went in at half time 1-0 up. Straight after half time they levelled the score to make it 1-1. Then David Barron’s long goal kick sent Sebastian on a run, and he scored after hitting the post from a very tight angle which made it 2-1 to us. We were in a good mood and playing well. With about 10 minutes to go Rhys McCarthy sent Ben Rose on a run and he laid the ball off to Sebastian for him to score his second goal of the match, 3-1. Then Rupert Skill went on a run and passed the ball to Sebastian whose rocket shot hit the bar, luckily Ben Rose was there to put the ball into the back of the net, 4-1. In the dying seconds of the match Grosvenor crossed the ball into the box and unfortunately Matthew James deflected the ball into his own net for an own goal! The final score was 4-2 to us.
