St.Anselm's Cricket Tournament
Our first competitive outing was at the St. Anselm’s cricket tournament on the Saturday of the Bank Holiday weekend. It was a lovely sunny day and at times very hot.
Two of our teams took part and we were fortunate to win the competition with our 'A' team. They got off to a disappointing start in the heats losing to Ranby school. However in the second game we won and this set us on the way for a day of exciting and entertaining cricket.
We came second in our heat and then played Malsis School in the Semi Finals. We won an exciting game having only scored 39 but then got them all out for 37. This put us into the final against the host school, St Anselm’s, who had recently returned from their cricket tour of South Africa. St. Anselm’s beat Ranby School in the other semi final.
St Anselm’s went in first and scored 37 off their 5 overs. We lost some early wickets but the middle order survived to knock off the required runs in style.
Congratulations to the team: R.O’Grady, G.Heath, D.McCarthy(Capt), G.Bhandal, C.Cummings, J.McElhone.
