The annual inter-house cross-country competition took place on a wintry afternoon on March 10th. The cold conditions and soggy ground made running difficult, however many of the boys put in some magnificent performances for their houses.
Despite only winning the Year 5 group, Balls’ consistently low scoring throughout all of the year groups brought them the Inter-House Cross Country Championship. They always had a runner in the top five and all of their runners were in positions within the top twenty of their respective year group. A great all round performance from all of the boys of Balls house – well done!
How was it scored?
Whilst there were great individual performances it was vital that each boy tried their very best as it was the position of the first 5 (Yr. 3/4) or 6 (Yr. 5/6) boys from each house that counted to the house score. For example; if the Year 5 Tonkin’s boys finished in 1st, 5th, 7th, 15th, 19th and 20th, these would be added together and Tonkins would have a total of 67 points added to their score. It was the total house score of all four year groups that decided the Inter-House Cross Country Champions.
