We believe that the most precious gift of education is achieved equally through academic work, sport, adventure, creativity and learning to live and work with others.
Warmth, kindness, courtesy and the utmost respect for others are qualities that are demonstrated and expected in equal measure here.
Although we are well known for our academic strengths, a great many people are not aware of the fact that our School cares for and encourages each child’s abilities in art, drama, music and sport. Every boy is given the opportunity to play a musical instrument, to sing in our choir and also to perform on stage at least once during each academic year.
Away from the classroom we have won national recognition in chess, have been City and County champions at soccer, City champions at swimming and have encouraged a great many boys through to representative honours in their chosen sporting area.
Ours is therefore a school of challenge and motivation; we work hard and enjoy our play. Any child with an enquiring mind, supported by a positive approach to life and to learning, has the key to succeed in the classroom and in all the other areas where we nurture individual talent.
One of the most important words in our School vocabulary is, “Yet.” The words, “I can’t do it,” become, “I can’t do it, yet,” and suddenly, this three letter word has brought an optimism for the future which, with determination and guidance from my dedicated staff will ultimately bring success.
I hope that I will have the opportunity of meeting you and your son, preferably during a working day when the boys are present or at one of our Open Days.
I am sure when you visit us that you will see that our school has traditional values but a modern and dynamic outlook on life for the schoolboy of the 21st Century.
I very much look forward to meeting you.
Mrs Clare Bruce
Headteacher
