Application Forms
For parents of boys eligible to take the 2008 Assessment, application forms are available by contacting Lynda Goodwin at:
goodwin.la@nottinghamhigh.co.uk, or by clicking on the attachment at the foot of the page. Applications may be returned at any time but we would appreciate them being
returned no later than one week before the assessment date.It is usual to seek references for candidates from their present school. Parents are therefore asked to inform their son’s present Headteacher, in advance, when their son is entered for the Assessment.
A non-refundable registration fee of £50 is payable to cover the cost of administering the assessment. An official “Candidate Entry Card” will be sent to you a few days before the assessment giving your son’s Candidate Number and reminding you of the timing of the day.
Those applying to enter the Senior School at 11+ are eligible to compete for part-scholarships and apply for Nottingham High School Bursaries and/or HSBC Bursaries. Details of these awards are available from the Senior School.
General
If a boy enters our Junior School Assessment and is unsuccessful there is no reason why he should not apply for the next age group the following year. We fully appreciate that much progress can be made in a year and that boys develop at different rates. This also applies to any boy who tries for the Year 6 (10) assessment and is unsuccessful; this result is not taken into account should he try for the the following year.
Boys in the Junior School do not automatically qualify for entry to the Senior School at 11+. All our boys have to take the same examination, on the same day, along with external candidates. However, we do pride ourselves on our record of boys entering into the Senior School, nearly all of whom do so. Any difficulties are, of course, identified and discussed with both the pupil and the parents well in advance of the 11+ examination.
