Appointment of the new Headmaster for the Junior School.
We are delighted to announce that Andrew Earnshaw has been offered and has accepted the post, with effect from the 1st September 2007.
Andrew is 33 years old and was educated at Bacup and Rawtenstall Grammar School, Lancashire. He then attended the University of Lancaster where he obtained a degree in Educational and Professional Primary Studies, with Physical Education Practice of Teaching. Following this, he has had a wide range of experience in education. He was Curriculum Co-ordinator for PE at Ormskirk C of E Primary School; Curriculum Co-ordinator for Humanities at the British School, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and then Curriculum Co-ordinator for ICT and PE at Seely Junior School, Nottingham. Since January 2004, Andrew has been Deputy Head at Beeston Rylands Junior School, where his responsibilities include Curriculum Co-ordinator for ICT, PE and PHSE, Educational Visits Co-ordinator and Newly Qualified Teachers and Student Mentor. He recently gained the National Professional Qualification for Headship from the National College for School Leadership in December 2005.
In his current school Andrew has helped to greatly improve SATS results over the last three years. He has introduced a great deal of innovation in ICT and has been responsible for extensive staff training in this area. He has also run very successful football and rugby teams, winning the Nottingham Inter-Varsity Tag Rugby competitions in 2004 and 2006 with his Year Six pupils. He also won the regional Key Stage Two Electronic Technology Challenge in 2005 and 2006 with his current school. He successfully led the School to achieve Investors in People status in 2004. His most recent achievement has been to attain the coveted Gold Standard accreditation for the Healthy Schools initiative. He has played a leading role in Performance Management and Self-evaluation at the School and has acted as Staff Governor on all committees. He has a strong interest in pastoral care and is very keen that the Curriculum should be flexible, creative and above all, enjoyable.
Andrew is married to Julie and they have a two year old son called Donovan.
