Year 5 Boreatton Park Trip

On Friday 29th September Year 5 went on a weekend trip to a PGL Activity Centre [Boreatton Park]. We left at about 1:30 pm on the Friday and we came back at about 9:00 pm on the Sunday. Boreatton Park is an activity centre in Shropshire. Miss Abell, Mrs Sethi and Mr Jones came with us on the trip.

When we arrived we were given a group leader, ours was Charlie. We were shown our rooms and we unloaded our luggage. We occupied rooms J1-8 and I6. We then went to have our tea. The food here wasn’t bad; actually it was quite tasty. For our evening entertainments we did 50/50 with another school. We did lot’s of daring challenges to win points for our team. We had lights out at 9:00pm. Some rooms were good and quiet while on the other hand some were quite the opposite.

Our teachers woke us up at 7:45am because we needed to be ready for breakfast at 8:30. We were divided into three separate groups [12 in each group]. On the way to and back from activities we sang songs. Between breakfast and lunch we did two activities and between lunch and dinner we also did two activities. Tonight we did the ‘The Great Egg Race’! This is a game where you did races and you won equipment for your team. At the end you had to create an invention that would protect your egg if you dropped it from a first-storey window. The egg smashed for all of the teams, but Team 2’s cracked the least.

On the Sunday, we did the same as the day before except the activities were different. After tea we got all our luggage onto the coach and set off.
I would recommend this trip for next years Year 5, but they should bring lots of dry clothes, because on activities such as Challenge Course and Raft Building it’s almost impossible not to get dirty, let alone wet.

On the 29th September 2006 all the years 5's went on a trip to a PGL activity course called Boreatton Park for the weekend. We arrived at Boreatton Park and were given our Group Leader know as a Groupie.  Ours was called Charlie. After we had met our Groupie we were told what cabins we were sleeping in and who we were sleeping with. We were kept in cabins J1-8 and I6. We did all sorts of activities but my favourite was the giant swing, where you were dropped in a swing from about 60 feet! There were loads more fun activities though etc. Air riffling, abseiling, raft building and quad biking. We left on Sunday Evening after tea. On the bush back home a few people slept a few played cards and a few were just being simply annoying. We got on the coach at about 6:00 and got back to school at 9:15. Despite the long journey to reach Boreatton Park it was really fun and I would recommend it to all children, adults and families.
