Today, I went to the Brewhouse Yard Museum and saw many rooms from Victorian times.  I sat on one of the beds and it was extremely hard and uncomfortable. I'm glad I have a comfy bed at home.  The School Room was very small as it contained many school desks including a teacher's desk.  I saw one of the canes which was stored by the teacher's desk.  Again, I'm glad we don't have a cane at school!

The Dining Room and Kitchen had many cups and saucepans. The Kitchen was the busiest room in the house because in the Victorian times this was used the most.  The kitchen was very hot and my mum wouldn't like to cook over an open fire.  One of the shops was a Cobblers which repaired heels and soles on shoes and made new shoes. They didn't wear Nike trainers in those days.

I saw a chamber pot underneath one of the beds.  I'm glad we have proper toilets these days. I found the trip to the Museum very interesting and gave me information on how people lived in the Victorian times.

On Wednesday 27th September year 6 went to a museum called Brewhouse Yard. Brewhouse Yard museum is set in Victorian Times. Firstly we wnt in and met Mrs. Hopkins (the lady who does history workshops in school) and we were split into 5 groups of 4 and 2 groups of 3. In our groups we went round Brewhouse Yard and answered questions about the rooms we were in.

There was a School Room, a Dining Room, a Chemists shop, a shoe and saddle shop, a kitchen and a childrens bedroom. The bed was made from horse hair so when I sat on it, it was rock solid. Also underneath the bedside table was a chamser pot. A chamber pot is a type of pot that poor children used to go to the toilet in. I'm glad I don't have to use a chamber pot at home. In the school Room I found a nasty looking cane in the teachers desk. It was well preserved but I could still see that a lot of boys were naughty at school. The classroom was tiny with only about 12 desks.

After we had been in all of the rooms we then went to the celler were there was an air raid shelter made from rock that was used in the 2nd world war it was wicked. At the end of the air raid shelter there was a sign saying a mums work is never done. My mum says that it is very true.

Overall the day was a great success and it is sutible for all the family from about 6 years of age to about 100 years old!!!!!!!!      I rate it at 10 out of 10.
