CLIMBING
Declan Stock, Year 13 has donated his International Top to the School, after representing the British Indoor Climbing Team.  Congratulations!
 
BATTLE OF THE BANDS
Well done to all pupils and staff who participated and helped, making this event successful in raising £581.00 for the four House Charities.
 
CHESS
In the UK Chess Challenge Mega-Final held at Foremarke Hall on Saurday 3rd May, all 12 NHS players qualified for the National Final (Giga Final) held in Manchester in July.  Well done. 
 
SWIMMING
On Friday the U15 and U19 squads swam in the senior relays gala at Bromsgrove School. The U15 team won both events, and in doing so Seb Smith broke the U13 backstroke record for the 4th time this year, and the team broke the medley relay record.
The U19 team won both their events.  Well done to both teams!
  
ORIENTEERING
The British Orienteering Championships were held near Inverness over the week-end of 19-20th April.  In the relay championships Peter Lynas running for Nottinghamshire's M18 team came home in 3rd place. The senior boys then travelled to Edinburgh for the World Schools Championships with teams from as far away as China and New Zealand.
The School team finished in 5th place out of 18 teams.  
 
BADMINTON
600 schools entered the National Schools Badminton Championships on 24th April, including a team of Year 10 boys from NHS. Congratulations to Rohan Mida, Kurran Sachdeva, Roshan Thomas and Matthew Astle, who played extremely well considering they were a year underage, and although they didn't win, they reached the last eight, which is a tremendous achievement. Our Year 9 team plays in their national final this week, making us the only school in the country to have qualified for the national final in both age groups!
 
WHEELER CUP - House Football
This year the Houses finished in the following order:
4th - White's
3rd - Cooper's
2nd - Maples'
1st - Mellers   
 
CHESS RESULTS
The Nottingham Chess Congress was held at school for the first time on the 19th & 20th April and included 11 competitors from the senior school out of 145 adult and junior entries.
Amongst the prize winners were: Eamonn Lim, Michael Zhang, and Arun Maini. 
 
SWIMMING
Barney Barlow set a new Welsh National Record and became National Champion at the Welsh National Swimming Championships in the 800m freestyle.  Well Done!
 
CROSS COUNTRY
Years 7 and 8 boys ran in the Dagfa House Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire Schools' race on Tuesday 15th April, which was held at Wollaton Park.  Michael Costante won the Year 7 race and Finn Shearwood won the Year 8 race.  Well done! 
 
INTERMEDIATE MATHS CHALLENGE 2008
In February all of year 10, together with 4 pupils from Year 11 and 2 pupils from Year 9 entered the IMC.  The School achieved 21 Gold awards, 33 Silver and 28 Bronze.  Well done boys!  
 
CHEMISTRY
On Friday 4 April a team of 3 lower sixth AS Chemistry students attended Nottingham Trent University where they competed in the Midlands heat of the National Schools' Analyst competition, organised by the Royal Society of Chemistry.
 
Competing against 12 schools, the High School performed exceptionally well finishing in a very commendable second place.  The boys won £150.00 for the Chemistry Department and were a credit to themselves and the School.

RUGBY
Alex Lewington played for England U16's in the Four Nations Tournament in France, and started all three games.  In the opening game v Wales he played on the right wing.  For the second game v Italy he started at full back, helping England to their only victory of the tournament.  In the final game v France he played on the right wing, and England drew 24-24 with the hosts.  

BRIDGE
Three teams took part in the Young Bridge Challenge event at Loughborough on Saturday, 5th April and played against schools and bridge clubs across the whole country.
 
In the Swiss Fours competition the NHS 'B' four came third and the NHS 'C' four came eleventh.
 
NHS 'A' took part in the Schools' Cup competition which is the national competition for school bridge players. They won their qualifying group comprehensively and proceeded to the semi-final where they beat The Grange School Hartford by a large margin.
The final was closely contested and NHS 'A' won by 3 IMP's.
