Assembly takes students back to 1968

Opening to strains of Steppenwolf's "Born to Be Wild", the School assembly on the last day of half term left a few boys wide-eyed and speechless, as the staff band, Hip Replacement, performed this classic 1960s track, accompanied by smoke machines and a real roaring motorbike!

The reason? The 40th aniversary of the events (or 'Les Evenements' ) of 1968. Highlighting some of the forces and movements that characterised the late '60's, such as 'Flower Power', anti-establishment protests, and the space race, the assembly finished with another classic musical interlude, Free's "All Right Now". It was hard to know who had enjoyed the assembly more - the boys....or Hip Replacement!
