Sports Day 2008 was held on Wednesday, 9th April, and although it was cold, thankfully the rain that had been threatened held off until the last race was over. Thank you to all our visitors who braved the low temperatures - we are grateful for your support.
As well as all the boys who took part in events, many others helped out on the day, serving refreshments, judging, scoring and ferrying results.
There were several outstanding performances, including:
Michael Costante (Year 7) - winner of the 100m and 1500m
Kaine Fothergill (Year 9) - winner of the 100m, 200m and Long Jump
Anthony Smedley (Year 9) - winner of the 800m and 1500m
Jonathan Huggard (Year 9) - winner of the Shot and Discus
Ali Abaza (Year 10) - winner of the 200m and Hurdles
Daniel Mehigan (Year 10) - winner of the 400m and Triple Jump

Fraser Kesteven (Year 11) - winner of the Hurdles and Long Jump
Reece Towne (Year 11) - winner of the High Jump and Pole Vault
Edward Smyth (Year 13) - winner of the 400m, High Jump and Triple Jump
But the most outstanding performance of the day, and winner of the Geri Thomas Shield, came from Jonathan Theuring (Year 8) who won the 100m, 200m and broke the Sports Day Long Jump record with a distance of 4.76m - a record which had stood since 1980!
