Enjoying Army rations!

On Friday 10th October, all sections of the CCF enjoyed a busy Field Day.
The Navy enjoyed a trip to Portsmouth and had the pleasure of a visit to HMS Nottingham, and stayed overnight on HMS Bristol.
The Army sections Field Day started with an overnight exercise at Yardley Chase near Northampton. Despite the cold and rain the boys camped out, with the Year 11's taking part in a blank firing exercise, and night patrols, and the Year 10's being taught the basics of fieldcraft which will stand them in good stead for future exercises.

The RAF section split into two with visits to both RAF Cranwell and RAF Odiham.
The trip to RAF Odiham was hosted by our old boy Richard Elford to whom we are very grateful for organizing a fantastic field day. During the day the boys visited different sections of the base, had a go on DCCT range which gave the boys a chance to experience shooting the L98 using lasers.

The highlight of the trip was the flight in the afternoon. All of the boys had an amazing trip in the Chinook, flying along the Thames, over the Houses of Parliament and the London Eye, then on and out over the sea. Mrs Wood had the privilege of sitting up at the front with the pilot. A very big thankyou goes out to Richard Elford and his team for the once in a lifetime opportunity for most of the boys.
