On Wednesday 12th November our 6th form Classicists made their annual visit to the University of Nottingham for the EMACT 6th Form Conference. It is a great opportunity for our students both to get an idea of what university life might entail and what it might be like to study a Classical subject at university, and it also is a good chance for them to look around a university campus.
During the day, they were treated to a selection of Classical lectures and seminar groups on a range of subjects which were all very thought provoking and which will help them to broaden their knowledge of both the Classical world and the texts they are currently studying. The topics covered ranged from 'The people in the Roman North' to 'Spartan militarism in 20th century politics' and were presented by a range of academics from a good spread of leading universities.
It was a very informative and useful day for our students once again.
