In sharp contrast to last year when umbrellas were the order of the day, the sun shone for this year's Founder's Day commemoration service on Saturday, 14th June.
This year's congregation was swelled by the attendance of a group of 60 or so Old Nottinghamians and their guests, who were in Nottingham attending a Jubilee Reunion to celebrate 50 years since leaving the High School. The service was apparently "shorter, and more interesting" than it had been when they attended as pupils!
Following the service at St Mary's Church in the Lace Market, guests were invited to attend the traditional Cheese and Ale Ceremony at the Council House, where dues were paid to the clergy and members of the City Council, in keeping with the Founder's wishes, as declared in the School's Foundation Deed.
This year's representative scholar was Harry Bateman from 7T who accepted the traditional groat from the Headmaster - which this year was presented in a framed certificate for Harry to keep.
