3 IP addresses and cookies
3.1 We may collect information about your computer including, where available, your IP address, operating system and browser type, for system administration. This is statistical data about our users' browsing actions and patterns, and does not identify any individual.
3.2 For the same reason, we may obtain information about your general internet usage by using a cookie file which is stored on the hard drive of your computer. Cookies are small files sent by web servers to your web browser (e.g. Internet Explorer, Firefox or Chrome), and stored on your computer’s hard drive. Cookies contain information that helps with the smooth running of the website. They also help us better understand and analyse usage of this site. For example, they enable us to:
3.2.1 estimate our audience size and usage pattern;
3.2.2 store information about your preferences, and so allow us to customise the Site according to your individual interests; and
3.2.3 recognise you when you return to the Site.
3.3 Nottingham High School uses only two kinds of cookies:
3.3.1 Strictly necessary cookies. These cookies are essential in order to enable you to move around the website and use its features, such as accessing secure areas of the website.
3.3.2 Performance cookies. These cookies collect information about how many visitors use a website, for instance which pages visitors go to most often, and if they get error messages from web pages. These cookies don’t collect information that identifies a visitor. All information these cookies collect is aggregated and therefore anonymous. It is only used to improve how a website works.
3.4 By using our website, you agree that we can place these types of cookies on your device.
3.5 You may refuse to accept cookies by activating the setting on your browser which allows you to refuse the setting of cookies. However, if you select this setting, you may be unable to access certain parts of the Site. Unless you have adjusted your browser setting so that it will refuse cookies, our system will issue cookies when you use the Site. The "Help" menu of the toolbar on most browsers will tell you how to prevent your browser from accepting new cookies, how to have the browser notify you when you receive a new cookie, or how to disable cookies altogether. For more information about cookies and how to stop cookies being installed or how to delete existing cookies from your hard drive visit the following website: www.allaboutcookies.org

5 Protecting pupils' identities
5.1 It is our policy to protect the identity of pupils on the Site.
5.2 We may, from time to time, wish to publish pupils' names in articles on the Site, and we may also wish to publish photographs containing their images. We will not include the full name (which means first name and surname) of any child together with their image, without good reason and without the appropriate consent. We operate an ‘opt out’ policy for each parent or guardian, as stated in our Terms and Conditions, to give their consent to having their child's image appear on the Site.

Please check these policies before you submit any personal data to such sites.
