Top Tips!
- Time management - produce a timetable for revision and stick to it!
- Don't leave everything to the last minute - you can't revise the entire Geography course in one night. So plan ahead to avoid a last-minute panic
- Stay fresh - when revising, only do 30 minutes of work at a time followed by a five minute break
- Be active when revising - it's not good enough just reading through your notes. Do past questions, make posters and mind maps - mix things up to make it more interesting
- Make sure you understand the main ideas - learning a list of facts without understanding how they relate to a subject is no good
- Answer the exam question - not your own
- Read the question carefully - if you misread the question your answer will be wrong
- Make sure you understand the key words in the question. So, if you're asked to compare something, for example, then compare it
- With unfamiliar data, identify the main topic that it's related to in your course, and then build your answer around this
- Plan your answer - don’t plough straight in, but spend a few minutes structuring your answer.
GOOD LUCK!
And remember....the exam is to allow you to show off what you DO know, NOT catch you out on what you DON'T know!
