All Year 8 pupils visited the Armouries Museum in Leeds. This was part of their learning and investigation on the English Civil War. They undertook musketry and pike drill, handled and assessed artefacts from the period and researched the Civil War through the displays in the museum.
Having just studied the causes of the Civil War, this visit allows the boys to understand aspects of the fighting so that the lessons on the war itself have enhanced meaning. The visit was a great success; George Preston (8T) said, “I found it interesting and informative; the pike drill was tough although I enjoyed being the drill sergeant and bossing the rest around.”
