The House bridge competition took place during the first two weeks of February.
After six lunchtime sessions Mellers' were 1st with Maples' very close behind in 2nd position. Cooper's were 3rd and White's 4th. Simon Berry, the Mellers' Bridge Captain, was presented with the Hoyte Cup in assembly. Well done to everyone who took part and to the Captains, Simon, David Jones, Sam Andrews and Alex McCarthy, who organised the teams each day.
The Notts U19 Pairs Bridge Competition took place after school on Tuesday 9th February. This is supported by the Nottingham Contract Bridge Association. The event was won by Brandon Alam and Cheng Li. Grateful thanks go to Joan and David Burgess for organising this tounament.
Simon Berry and Kyle Lam have been selected to play for England U19 in Amsterdam in the latter part of March. They will be part of a team of 4 competing against students from about 20 other countries. Congratulations to both of them and good luck. We will miss their skill and expertise in the Schools Challenge at Loughborough on Saturday 20th March but trust that most of our other regular players will be able to make that event.
Bridge sessions take place at 12:50 in W11 on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, so if you are an aspiring England player then now is the time to come along and learn how to play. Bridge is also an excellent skill to do for D of E and complete beginners are always welcome.
