The reason for writing to you today is regarding our 2nd adventurous training trip of the academic year, which we run during the Easter recess to Snowdonia. Your son has expressed an interest in going and as a member of our CCF he is able to request a place on the above mentioned excursion. The cadets will be involved in Hill Walking, Mountain biking, Rock climbing and Orienteering. Your son will require to own a small amount of equipment such as a good pair of walking boots, a 40+ litre rucksack and a good quality set of water proofs. Also experience of the outdoors would be advantageous. Please see full equipment list over.
The trip will depart on Tuesday 6th April 2010 and return Monday 12th April. The boys will be based at a fully catered army base in Capel Curig Training Camp. We will be travelling to Snowdonia on the school Minibuses. The cost of this trip will be approximately £150. This will cover food, transport and accommodation for the trip.
The purpose of the trip is to give the boys the chance to experience some quality mountain days, along with a great opportunity to improve their navigational expertise. Improve confidence on mountain biking and extend leadership skills into a different environment. Above all, the main emphasis is on enjoyment!
Places on the trip are limited and after the recent success of our previous expedition last October I’m sure they will go very quickly. If your son is interested and would like to take part could you please complete and return the slip at the bottom of this page along with a Non Refundable Deposit cheque for £50. Places are limited to 24 maximum; places will be allocated on a first come first serve basis with cheques only being cashed if your son obtains a place.
Pupils who are allocated a place must fill in the necessary consent form and present their equipment for inspection. Failure to comply with these requests before Friday 19th March 10 will forfeit the pupil’s position on the trip and an admin fee of £50 being charged. The necessary equipment that needs to be inspected is their rucksack, waterproofs (jacket and trousers), and his walking boots. If all is satisfactory then his place will be secured.
