Combined Cadet Force courses are all excellently organized and only led by qualified instructors. Cadets enjoy a wide range of activities and courses run mainly in the Easter and summer periods, but there are also weekend and one-day courses available in a variety of subjects. Annual summer Camps are always popular and involve many different activities. CCF (RN) courses are open to all arms of the Combined Cadet Force (Army, RAF, and RN). CCF (RN) runs approximately 120 courses per year with a very wide range of activities. The courses are residential and take place mainly during the Easter and Summer School Holidays. There are a wide range of courses, and just some of these are described below:
Military Training
An exciting three-day training package that will cover many of the subjects listed below (Subject to availability): Judging distance, Harbour Drills, Boarding and Searching Presentation, Hang Test, 15 Foot Fast Rope (If medically fit and able to pass hang test), Cooking in the field, Patrolling, Section Battle Drills, Practical Section Attacks, Camouflage & concealment, What a Royal Marine carries into battle, Bivouac Construction, Hand signals, 4 men contact drills, Observation. The course takes place at HMS Raleigh, in Cornwall, and a charge of £1.50 per day is payable.
RYA Sailing, Level 1/2
The course covers the syllabus for the RYA L2 Powerboat certificate. Cadets start in displacement boats and have the opportunity to gain the planning endorsement later in the week. A night exercise, to consolidate work on navigation lights and navigation is included during the week. The course takes place at HMS Raleigh, in Cornwall, and a charge of £1.50 per day is payable.
