Community Action

Castleton 2004
Community Action is a group set up to help the community in and around the school. It allows boys from the school to meet and help people who they otherwise would hardly ever come in contact with.

Many pupils in year 10 and 11 choose Community Action as their extra-curricular activity.  It becomes optional in 6th form, but many members choose to stay on and some new members join at this level.

The boys involved in the group have fun and do something worth while for the community.  They gain a sense of satisfaction, pride and a sense of sharing and community.

6th formers.  Starting a Fairtrade group at School is an excellent way of supporting the Make Poverty History campaign.  Click here or see DSG for more info.

Castleton 2006. This year's Castleton weekend was a huge success.  The St Ann's Well Junior School children had a great activity weekend largely due to the huge effort and commitment of our sixth form helpers.  Thanks must go to David Allen, Pranav Mahajan, Simon Ray-Jones, Lewis Teasedale, Gautham Ullas and George Ward all in Year 13 for their fantastic work.  Click here to see photos of the event.

Autumn Term Field Day.  All of our Year 10 and Year 11 members were involved with some intensive conservation work in conjunction with the Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust.  We spent about five hours working at Seller's Wood Nature Reserve, mainly coppicing and clearing the undergrowth.  You can see some of our photographs if you click here.

Spring Term Field Day.  Most of our members were helping in local inner-city primary schools whilst a small number were involved with conservation work at Stonebridge City Farm in Sneinton.

Summer Term Field Day. Our Year 10 members will be actively involved in 'Fun Days' at Melbury Primary School and Berridge Junior School.
