Successful Trio complete the Three Peaks Challenge

On top of the world!
On top of the world!

During the weekend of 19th-20th September School Captain James Taylor, School Vice-Captain Jamie Webb-Bowen and Mr Payne undertook the extremely demanding Three Peaks Challenge in aid of the Nottingham Traumatic Brain Injury Service.

The Three Peaks Challenge involves climbing the 3 highest peaks in Scotland (Ben Nevis), England (Scafell Pike) and Wales (Snowdon) in 24 hours - that's a total of about 24 miles and over 3,000 of ascent, not to mention 500 miles of driving between peaks.

They completed the challenge in 21 hours and 33 minutes, well within the 24 hour goal.

The whole idea was James' - both to celebrate his own 18th birthday, but also to raise money for a cause very close to his heart. Having been involved in a serious road accident earlier in the year and having spent several weeks under the help and guidance of the Head Injuries rehabilitation unit at the QMC, James could think of no finer way of celebrating his own return to health, and thanking the unit for the part they played in his recovery.

James has set up a website to help fund-raise for the service - it can be found at

www.justgiving.com/James-Taylor1

James and the rest of the team would be very grateful if supporters could visit the site and make a donation. Every little bit helps so that the Brain Injury Service can carry on their fantastic work.

We would just like to congratulate, James, Jamie and Mr Payne on their achievement.
