Triple Success for Michael!

Michael Costante and Kevin Fear

Michael Costante, Year 9, has had an excellent cross country season so far with three major championship victories. In December Michael won the Nottinghamshire county league, which was three races in three months, winning all of them. In January Michael won the Nottingham City Schools cross country championships at Wollaton Park, which meant qualification for the Nottinghamshire County Schools' championships on February 6th.

This event was staged at Berry Hill Park, Mansfield and Michael led from start to finish to win the under 15 boys Nottinghamshire county schools title.

In addition to these victories, Michael will be representing Nottinghamshire on two occasions in March, firstly, in the England inter counties race in Birmingham, followed by the English Schools Championships in Manchester.

Michael has won other races this year in Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and Leicestershire and has also represented the Nottingham High School senior boys' team on two occasions, as a Year 9 boy.

Finally, on the 7th March, Michael ran in the East Midlands trials for the London Mini Marathon team. He finished 5th and therefore goes on to represent the East Midlands in London on April 25th. He gets to run the last 4 miles of the London Marathon route, finishing down the Mall in front of thousands of spectators and BBC television cameras!

We wish him all the best in these races and look forward to following his success.
