nd June, author and Old Nottinghamian,
Neil Arksey visited the School and met 7L, 7H and 7S in their English lesson after lunch.
Neil has had seven novels published by Penguin and Random House; MacB, a football thriller based on Macbeth is currently published by Heinemann and widely used in schools. His latest book, Intelligent Life, is also available as an e-book. Currently, he is working as a producer on feature length films but previously as screenwriter, story editor and consultant, head writer and series producer Neil has been responsible for over one thousand episodes of drama at home and abroad on shows such as Crossroads, Family Affairs, Doctors, Mile High and River City. In Europe, amongst others, he has worked on Salatut Elämät in Finland and Jobán Rosszban in Hungary.
Then on Wednesday 27th June, author Alan Gibbons will be leading creative writing workshops with Year 9. We are welcoming Alan back for a second year as his first was so successful and enjoyable.
Previously a teacher, Alan Gibbons has been writing successful children's books for seventeen years. Amongst others, he has also been shortlisted for the Carnegie Medal twice and twice for the Booktrust Teenage Prize. His books have been published in Japanese, German, Italian, French, Thai, Spanish, Danish, Dutch, Swedish and other languages. He is a popular speaker at the Edinburgh Festival, the London Book Fair, the Northern Children's Book Festival, the Hay-on-Wye Festival, the Cheltenham Festival and many others, and has led workshops in schools for many years.
Alan will be signing books in the Library at lunchtime and we will have several titles available to purchase, costing £6.99 and £7.99.
Should you or your son wish to purchase a book for signing, we are happy to accept cash or cheque (made payable to 'Nottingham High School'), or permission to put the cost on your end of term account. The Library can take advance requests.
