Cricketers raise money for charity

Mr Boswell presents cheque to regional chairman of Lord's Taverners

As part of their fundraising for the Nottingham High School cricket tour to Barbados, 28 tourists went bag packing on two occasions during the winter months.  The proceeds of these events went directly to our two nominated charities, The Lord’s Taverners and Rainbows Hospice.

The Lord's Taverners, for whom the cricketers raised £1,000, helps young people, particularly those with social, environmental, physical or learning disadvantages, to enjoy cricket and sport.

Rainbows Hospice in Loughborough looks after children whose lives are limited or threatened by illnesses, and on Monday 16th March, Mr Boswell, Alpesh Tosar and Luke Robinson visited the hospice in Loughborough to present a cheque for £1,000. Whilst they were there, they were given the opportunity to be shown around the hospice in order to appreciate exactly where the efforts of their fundraising would be going.  In terms of something tangible, the sum raised would be sufficient to purchase a special electric bed.  The excellent facilities ranged from computer games rooms to a music room and a unique sensory room.

The boys found the experience extremely insightful and it made them realise their ignorance about what a hospice is and what it does – indeed it certainly put cricket into perspective!
