Nottingham High School has a thriving Sixth Form community of 220 students. Our aim is to provide all students with a wealth of opportunities, the
highest quality teaching, excellent
pastoral support and an exciting range of
extra-curricular activities.
The culture of the Sixth Form is based on high expectations and high aspirations. Our community is achieving, focused and confident, and Nottingham High School takes every opportunity to celebrate success and support students in meeting ambitious targets. Students and staff work in a spirit of mutual respect underpinned by intellectual curiosity.
Moving into the Sixth Form is very much a transition from traditional learning to an emphasis on independent thinking and self-motivated study. As well as the tremendous opportunities to achieve academic success, our boys are also encouraged to develop their interests within a wide programme of intellectual, sporting, leisure and social pursuits.
New freedoms bring new responsibilities and our students are expected to act as role models for the younger pupils and to embrace opportunities to take on leadership roles. Whether this is as a prefect, a language ambassador, an officer in the CCF, directing music and verse-speaking choirs, or as a younger boy’s Maths buddy, we see this as an important part of their personal development.
Our Sixth Formers demonstrate a genuine desire to take on new responsibilities. We are proud to see our students leaving the school as confident, interesting and intellectually inquisitive young adults, equipped not just with qualifications but with a rich diversity of experiences and skills, and an appetite for new challenges.
Each year we welcome applications to join our Sixth Form from boys currently studying GCSEs elsewhere. For more information please contact Mrs Lynda Goodwin on 0115 8452232.
