In keeping with recent weather patterns, Sports Day 2010 was held on a bright, but very cold afternoon. There were some very good performances produced by the competitors, highlights of which included the following:
Year 7 - James Foster won the 100m and the Hurdles
Year 8 - Will Anderson won the 100m, 400m and was second in the Discus, whilst Rowan Lee won the 800m and the 1500m
Year 9 - Rupert Skill won the 100m and 200m, Luke Duffy won the Discus and High Jump, Moranga Mokaya won the Triple Jump, Long Jump and Hurdles
Year 10 - Henry Burton won the 400m, 800m and Triple Jump, Jonathan Theuring won the 100m, 200m and Long Jump and Luke Dudley won the Discus and Shot in a new Sports Day record distance of 11.59m. Luke broke the previous record which had stood for 26 years by 10cm.
Year 11 - Matthew Wetton won the 100m and 200m and Freddie Sail won the Long Jump and Hurdles and was second in the Triple Jump
Sixth Form - Fraser Kesteven won the Long Jump and Triple Jump and Simon Killips won the 800m and 1500m.
The performance of the day and this year’s winner of the Geri Thomas Sports Day Shield went to Michael Costante, winner of the Year 9 1500, 800m and 400m in a new record time of 57.9 seconds. This record was broken by 0.3 seconds and had stood for 15 years. Congratulations to Michael.
White's won the Sports Cup with 755.5 points, followed by Maples' with 707.5 pts, Mellers' with 678 pts and Cooper's with 669 pts.
