The MFL Department at Nottingham High School is a vibrant and exciting place to learn. We teach French, German and Spanish and each pupil takes at least one foreign language to iGCSE level. As well as the expertise of our teachers we also have native speakers in each Department to support the development of spoken language.
In addition to our traditional classrooms we have two dedicated ICT suites where our linguists can make use of the many varied online resources that we have available, for instance to improve their listening skills.
To complement the teaching, we run a programme of trips abroad every year. Our Year 7s can experience a cultural visit to Paris and Normandy, and older pupils can take advantage of one of the language exchanges to France, Spain and Germany.
Our sixth-formers have the opportunity to study at a language school abroad, where native teachers can hone their skills before the summer exams.
The Department is also very active in national and international level languages competitions, and we have enjoyed great success in the Oxford German Olympiad competition, among others.
In MFL we are passionate about the importance of learning languages and promoting wider cultural understanding and we look forward to welcoming you to our Department.
