Settling in

Settling in to the High school is an important thing to do. It helps you feel more confident when you do things in the school. A good way to help you settle in is to know where everything in the school is so that you won’t get lost anywhere. You will get a map of the school early in the year; try and learn it as well as you can.

Another way to help you settle in is to get to know the people you meet. Get to know your classmates and your teachers. Try and remember your timetable so you will know what to bring to school each day and what lesson is next. It helps you be organised and feel comfortable.

Another important thing to do when you start the school is to make friends. Try not to always stay with children you already know, go and meet children who came from other schools and you may find someone with the same interests as you. A good time to make friends is during tutor sets during which you will meet people from the same house as you.
Another opportunity to meet new people is in a club, as you will meet children who also like the same activity. You can also meet people in the playground during breaks. There are also many sports activities going on and you can find people who also like sports (if you like sports).

I would like to add that making the most of the breaks by doing some extra-curricular activities will help to make the breaks enjoyable.
