Mr Jim Cook  (JAC)

I gained an Honours degree in Biology at York University, and then moved to Nottingham to do a PGCE at the University here. I joined the High School way back in 1979 and became Head of Department in 1994.

I have been lucky enough to embark on many expeditions with the school, both in the UK and abroad, and organise the Gold D. of E. qualifying expedition to the Cheviots. I am a tutor in Maples' House, a Year 12 form teacher, and am in charge of the Third XV rugby team.

Ken joined the High School in 1987. He graduated with honours from East Anglia, and went on to teach at Rushcliffe School in West Bridgford. Since joining the Department he has made enormous contributions to school life.

He has the difficult job of Examinations Officer and is in charge of the D. of E. Scheme, also organising all the canoeing expeditions. He is a Year 13 Form Teacher, a tutor in Whites', and also runs the Third XV rugby team.

Mrs Carolyn Torr  (CDT)

Carolyn has always had strong links to both the Boys' and Girls' High Schools. She joined NHS in 2004, having previously taught at NGHS. Her son Sam left NHS a few years ago, and is now a dentist.

Carloyn graduated from Cambridge with a BA in Natural Sciences, and went on to gain a MA before completing a PGCE at Nottingham. She probably has the greenest-fingers in the Department, and also enjoys walking, particularly in The Lake District.
