First World War Coursework

Coursework on the First World War is the very first thing boys do in Year 10. There are three coursework essays to be produced worth a combined total of 12.5% of the final GCSE mark.
 
The topic areas that we study are:
  • The start of the war and the development of the Western Front
  • Life in the trenches on the Western Front
  • The impact of new technology upon the war
  • The Battle of Verdun
  • The Battle of Somme - were the British soldiers 'lions led by donkeys'?
  • The War in the Air
  • The War at Sea
  • The end of the war in 1918
