The School teaches the OCR Music specification at GCSE.
 
There are 4 Areas of Study:
 
1. Area of Study 1 - Exploiting the Resource
  • Knowing your instrument (or voice) including how to perform and how to compose for it.

2. Area of Study 2 - Techniques of Melodic Composition
  • How to study and write melodies

3.  Area of Study 3 - Dance Music
  • The Elizabethan Pavan and Galliard
  • The Romantic waltz
  • Disco Music from the 1970s and 1980s
 
4.  Area of Study 4 - Traditions and Innovations
  • Salsa - Traditional Cuban music and Big Band Jazz
  • Bhangra - Punjabi folk music and Western Pop
  • Minimalism - African and Indonesian traditional music and Western Classical
