Many Old Nottinghamians have gone on to make a career in the music profession, but amongst the most well-known are the conductors Christopher Hogwood, harpsichordist and founder of the Academy of Ancient Music; Nicholas McGegan, director of San Francisco's Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra;  and Andrew Massey, the Resident Conductor of The Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra.  Richard May won the  BBC TV Young Musician of the Year Competition, String Section, whilst at the School and has pursued an international career as both soloist and chamber musician.
