Using The Library
Senior Library
The library uses the software 'Access-It' to manage the library systems. In both the Upper School and Lower School Libraries, there is a computer or OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue) dedicated to searching the library catalogue only.

It is a sophisticated  but 'user-friendly' system which be searched in many ways.
The Fast Find search is the quickest and easiest way to locate items in the library

  • Author search - you can enter the whole name or part of the name, e.g. Horowitz, Anthony or Horow and then click on Author
  • subject search - such as Chemistry and click on Title/Keywords
  • media search - such as DVD and then click on All Fields
  • If you would like a list of books about a particular person, e.g. Napoleon, simply enter the name and click on Title/Keywords
Access-It will list the results of your search, in alphabetical order. It will also tell you where the books are and if they are out on loan or not.

To Borrow Books
When you have chosen what you would like to borrow, take them to the Library Desk, with your Smart Card.  The librarian will issue them to you and de-activate them.  Please remember that all the stock is tagged and therefore it is important that you have them issued correctly.
The books are issued for three weeks, and may be renewed, provided they are not reserved by anyone else.  You do not have to bring the books themselves to the library, if you want them renewing, we can do that simply by seeing your Smart Card.
All books are issued for three weeks, but videos and DVDs are issued for one week only.
Some careers information may now also be borrowed, for a one-week period.

Reservations
Any book, video or DVD may be reserved by filling in a form at the library desk.  You will be notified via your form teacher when the book becomes available.
