On the 10th July 2009, 28 boys and 5 staff will embark on an trip of a
life time to Barbados for 15 days. The 1st XI will play in the prestigious
Sir Garfield Sobers Competition and the ‘Development’ team will play
against local Bajan opposition. Each team will play 8 competitive
matches and hopefully the 1st team will progress to the qualifying
rounds of the Sir Garfield competition. Schools from around the world
will enter this festival of cricket. It is an excellent opportunity for the boys
to experience a different culture and play cricket in another country.
The boys will also be involved in various fundraising, fitness and skills
sessions in the lead up to this fantastic tour.

Geoff Hall, Managing Director, Abacus Lighting Ltd
We are delighted to be the ‘Premier Partner’ for Nottingham High School’s trip to participate in the Sir Garfield Sobers International Cricket Competition and Development team matches across the great island of Barbados in July 2009!
Abacus Lighting has gained world-wide recognition for its revolutionary floodlighting systems of cricket grounds including the iconic Trent Bridge floodlights opened in August this year.
We have a significant interest in Barbados having won the contract to supply, install and commission the complete floodlighting system at the worldfamous Kensington Oval Cricket Ground in Bridgetown – a cricket venue since 1882. The work will be completed ahead of England’s tour to the West Indies in February 2009. Abacus is based in Sutton-in Ashfield and is delighted to support the squad who will not only represent their school but act as ambassadors for the whole of Nottinghamshire. I am sure this will be the first major overseas tour for the majority of the boys and it is a wonderful opportunity for them to visit a cricket mad country and to experience another culture whilst making lasting friendships and storing memories to last a lifetime! We wish them an enjoyable and successful tour...and who knows in the future some of them may return to play at the Kensington Oval under our
floodlights for the senior England team!
