School Mission & Values
Nottingham High School is an independent day school for boys and girls aged 4-18.
The school was founded in 1513 by Dame Agnes Mellers, with King Henry VIII sealing the school’s foundation deed in that same year. After more than 500 years of teaching boys, we welcomed girls into our school and become a co-educational institution in 2015. The School has an extensive pupil catchment and is the first choice for much of Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Lincolnshire and Leicestershire. Our students come from a wide range of backgrounds and we are committed to maintaining a representative entry, supporting this with generous bursary and scholarship funds for Year 7. Together, these mean that about a tenth of Senior School pupils receive some form of financial assistance. Please do have a look around our website to find out more about Nottingham High School, and if you would like to see the school for yourself we would love to welcome you for a visit.
We enable students from diverse backgrounds to flourish in an academic, caring environment engaging and inspiring every pupil in our care to maximise their potential and enjoyment. We nurture quietly confident and happy children who are intellectually curious and cared for as individuals.
At Nottingham High School we aim to provide so much more than academic excellence; our students are given opportunities to gain skills that prepare them for life, develop their current interests and explore new ones.
Our Vision, Mission and Values
Excellence:
We have high aspirations and pursue excellence across all areas of our provision. We nurture individual pupils to achieve their highest potential and make a positive impact in the world.
Individuality:
We value each child and member of staff as an individual and embrace diversity in all its forms. We create the conditions in which our staff and children can be happy and flourish.
Respect:
We are proud to be an inclusive and diverse community. We value kindness, integrity and modesty. We champion a culture of respect and understanding between all in the school community.
Empathy:
All of our provision is underpinned by empathy and tolerance. We seek to build resilience and empower children to make a difference in the world.
Curiosity:
We value intellectual curiosity and creativity. We want every child to develop a love of learning. We embrace taking risks to enhance pupil development both academically and as people.
